When you have a PR based on another PR, etc …
info stored as “stack objects” server side
- REST: /repos/{owner}/{repo}/stacks
benefits:
- you had to mentally (or notebookly) remember your stack of PRs, not anymore
- gh stack has utility to manage as stack, notably rebase and push the whole stack
  - metadata in .git/gh-stack
- reviews are clearer because
  - reviewers can see merged and candidate branches to merge
  - PR are smaller and compatible withe trunk based development
